Arianna's Day 2

Sunday, March 31
Our second day consisted of site-seeing the historic monuments around Washington D.C. As shown in the picture, we walked beside the blooming cherry blossoms and enjoyed views such as the Washington Monument and also the Lincoln Memorial. We learned so much about historic events that to this day affect the world. For example, the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum promoted to always "ask why". Curiosity is a significant factor toward success and even more so when seeking improvement. That way we remove the negative factors that detained us from being successful in the first place. The holocaust museum also shed light toward Syria's current state of events for awareness. As I became further informed of the events, I was reminded of how lucky many of us are for our freedom, peace, and rights.
Throughout the day we also stepped out of our comfort zones by trying different types of food than what we are used to. Our first food stop was at a Middle Eastern food truck where I had the lamb gyro; one of the best meals ever! By the time we decided for dinner, we ordered authentic asian food which was a very pleasant meal as well. It is safe to say we are taking advantage of the delicious food in the city!

"AMERICA WILL NEVER BE DESTROYED FROM THE OUTSIDE"
-ABRAHAM LINCOLN

Today was my second day in Washington, DC. Is amazing the amount of history imparted in every street; culture, former times, historical events are all embodied around the city. Therefore, among us we can also find ignorance, the lack of empathy, and respect as we interact with many others, this definitely cannot be modified with the structure of any building, of any monument, of any statue.

Emily's Day 2: Site Visit

Our day started early. We we’re eager to visit the city and contemplate the most iconic museums and monuments. We commenced our day at 6:30, (3:30 in Arizona’s time), by 8:30 we made our way into the White House. In our tour we stopped by the U. S Department if the Treasury and the executive office.  We visited the Holocaust Museum, the walk was entirely worth it. All the places we visited were astonishing, however my favorite part was visiting the Air Space Museum.

Neeila's Post

Many agree with the idea that there are no better classes than the ones imparted in the most well-known school, named life. I don’t really know in what grade level am I, what courses I'm currently taken, or what my major score might be, but I do know that I would challenge myself to pass each one of the given classes. Today, I arrived in Washington DC; my objective, to learn and feel as much as I can. My mission, to persuade and remain in someone’s brain to create a positive change.

Emily's Day 1: ChinaTown

Washington is awesome! It is full of energy ... We went to take a walk around the city, looking for something to eat.. After a 10 - 15 minutes walk, we found the "ChinaTown" in Washington. It has a cool vibe and the food around the area is really good as well. Also, we used the walk to get to know the area and the museams around.

Arianna's Saturday, March 30th-

Saturday, March 30th-
Throughout our flights we observed glimpses of cities such as Denver and St. Louis. We were amazed by the white coat of snow Denver had, specially how neat and organized the neighborhoods looked.
Roughly around eight hours of travel, we have finally arrived to our very much desired destination! As soon as we were driven to our hotel, we immediately spotted a street full of food trucks; we know where we will be eating tomorrow! After settling into our hotel rooms we walked around Washington D.C. and planned our day for tomorrow. The architecture in the city is marvelous as well as the enthusiasm shown for the cherry blossom season! We are thrilled to view a few of the many prestigious monuments of the United States.

Arianna Buchanan

Hello all, my name is Arianna Buchanan from the rural and united city, San Luis, Arizona. I am nineteen years old and a junior at the University of Arizona Yuma Distance Campus as I pursue an undergraduate degree in Family Studies & Human Development (FSHD) with a minor in Human Services. After a year of attending Arizona Western College (AWC) to complete an associates in FSHD as well, I transferred as a WesternCat to broaden my higher education. This upcoming fall semester I will gladly gain the experience of attending the university on main campus in which I expect to grow as a person and student. Once I graduate on May 2020, I plan to pursue a graduate degree in order to work in higher education as a counselor and eventually as a professor. As a current intern at the UA Yuma Campus, I have found immense pleasure in providing guidance to student prospects as well as those already enrolled. Hopefully with ongoing experience in my field of interest. my qualifications will be of great benefit to those in my community. Lastly, I am thrilled to take part in the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities.

Neeila D Borquez, born on March 25, 1991, in Bisbee Arizona. I was raised in a small border town named Naco, Sonora and returned to Bisbee at the age of twelve. I am from Mexican heritage and I was raised surrounded by its culture and traditions. I often spent my time raising my four-year-old son and completing my bachelor's degree and the University of Arizona.

I love reading and learning about others. I currently work for a company who offers services to individuals with mental health problems. Two and a half years of experience in this field lead me to the feeling that there’s always something new to learn. This work environment also gives me a blind hope of a better world with a more sense of humility.

I attended Cochise College and obtained my Associate's degree in Communications. After graduating I took a four-year gap in order to attend the university and look for a further education, since my priority became to raise my child. When going back to school, I decided to work on a bachelor's degree in Human Services and a minor in Psychology. I began this career with the desire of changing someone’s life and contribute in a positive way to the surrounding communities. This eventually gives me the opportunity to meet great people that fill me with their knowledge and contagious me with their enthusiasm on helping those in need.

Today, I continue to work as a Direct Support Professional, attending university full time, and enjoying my son’s company. If there’s any free time left, I enjoy reading, drawing, painting, and getting together with my family.

Emily,

I am 23 years old.I was born in Nogales, Arizona.  My family moved to the Southern AZ border, Douglas/Agua Prieta when I was 4 years old.  I graduated from Cochise College with an Associates of Business and currently pursuing the Bachelors of Science in Commerce. Growing up along the borderlands gave me the unprecedented experience and opportunity to thrive in a multi-cultural and bilingual community. I love keeping myself busy and going to school. I love reading, traveling and spending time with my family.

Emily's Back Home!

We are finally back home! It was a amazing trip, my first time in a plane. My fist time in Washington. It is a life changing experience...
